I am not sure about “The greatest effort is not concerned with results”, so what should we focus on: the way which drives us to reach the goal or something else.

Dear Sodina,
The Buddha said, ““The greatest effort is not concerned with results” means the consequence of our action will not justify your effort because if you just want to produce greatest outcome by whatever means no matter it is ethical or evil ones. Therefore, the result is justified by the nature of your action itself.
